learn about different cultures

besides learning the language we are practicing it would be interesting if we know about the culture of the the people who speaks the language we are interested in. or some other information about countries like custumes, news, flags, maps etc.

Yes, chatting with people is probably the best way to do this- I agree with Parker

I think this would be best served by a message board. That way people can ask questions about different cultures and other livemocha members can provide the answers and discuss rather than putting it on the site developers to provide this info.

Herm, I don't think that this is really good for livemocha, as this is for learning the language particularly...you can use the rest of the internet to research the country. However, as livemocha develops, this could in fact end up being a good side-feature.

I was going to suggest this myself. It would be nice if there was a section where users could post little bits about their culture, and maybe even like a 'fact-a-day' sort of thing chosen at random from the list. It's great to learn about the culture, not just the language.

I like idea to make enlargement to Profile with every level of medal. Getting bronze medal you can place flag of your town or state if you like. With silver medal, you can place voice of national anthem or just favorite song, with a golden medal you can have picture gallery to represent own region or country. The matter is it must be good decorated.

What about chatting with people, isn't this the best way?

I think this would be good. A simple culture lesson like places where the language is spoke, how many people speak it, flags, and some history perhaps.
