    Edit/Delete Functions on Comments planned

When checking an exercise for someone sometimes you make a mistake, being able to fix it would be nice and beneficial for the learner. Also, being able to edit and alter translations and tips would be helpful.

    Add verb conjugator/grammar lessons

It would be very useful to add a feature that conjugates common verbs or gives the user brief grammar lessons for writing exercises. Many users on LiveMocha have very little exposure to the language and unless you've taken it in school before, the writing exercises are impossible!

A sound when the chatbox pups up planned

If someone wants to chat with me then I do not hear a signal.
I have to hear it when someone is sending a chat invite. The chat box pops up, but if you're busy with something else you can not see it.
I hope you understand my English.

add "less commented" to tutor listing (section "share") planned

When we use the actual "Newest" and "Most commented" orders, we are not able to correct exercises low commented that were made not so long ago. With te "Less commented" option, we tutors can give equal attention to all.

a Wikipedia-like solution for users to create lessons

The lessons by themselves are not sufficient if one wants to learn a language using only Livemocha.
We need to have an addition to each lesson, that would allow users to create a lesson summing up the content of the course. For instance:
    -vocabulary
    -tenses
    -grammar
    etc.

As I am learning Hindi, I can tell that learning the devanagari alphabet is crucial. Yet nowhere on Livemocha can we find a tutorial.

Users could modify the contents freely or under certain restraints (knowledge of the language, user's points, elections through votes by other members...)

I think that would be a HUGE addition to LiveMocha.

    Long life!!

have more exercises available at end of courses under review

Have writing and speaking exercises available for people who have finished all the available courses in a language -- ones that aren't just doing over again the exercises in the courses. Something to keep working on beyond the end of 202.

    Add a course in Esperanto

Esperanto was created to help people communicate. Is was supposed to be the new international language. It's a really easy language (the whole grammar can fit in one single page) with no exceptions at all. It's way easier than english and could help some people to have a neutral (not related to history, politics or religion) way to communicate.

Add audio recording feature to the Peer Review Lightbox planned

There is an audio recording feature on the standard review page (the page shown when linked from a friend request to review an exercise); howver there is not the same functionality provided on the ad hoc Peer Review Lightbox page that is presented after you have submitted your own exercise. Audio recordings are invaluable, especially to assist with pronunciation on Oral Exercises.

Add Chinese Character recognition to Chinese lessons planned

We need some Chinese Character recognition before the conversation exercises which are in Chinese Characters in the Chinese lessons. Manual translation to pinyin is a very slow method.

    Vocabulary building game.

This would be similar to the google image tagging game where two anonymous people are teamed up from a queue to identify images. Except for livemocha, the images would already be identified and the people would be competing to see who could give the correct name for the object in the language they are learning first.

Regardless of who gets the point, they'll both see the correct answer afterwards before the display of the next object.

You could pair people up who have similar mocha ratings within the language they're learning. This would be a fun way to do community based vocabulary building outside of things like basic flash cards and would promote quicker memory retrieval of vocab for objects.

You could use a voting system to get all the images you needed added and identified if you wanted it to be a community effort. This would help prevent fraud or abuse.

For a similar example see: http://images.google.com/imagelabeler/

    Don't stick to one-size-fits-all lessons

I've completed the Spanish 101 course (although it's admittedly way below my level -- I was trying out the system and I still learned some new words or expressions now and then) and played a bit with other courses as well. In so doing, I found it obvious that you created a course for learning English, then simply swapped in different words (and sometimes grammar structures) to make lessons for other languages. If this is not actually what happened, it still certainly looks that way.

Now, I understand why you've done this, of course: It's a heck of a lot faster and easier to reuse pictures and sentence patterns for every language than to do every course from scratch. And it's true: a lot of the work you've done is just fine and can be adapted virtually as-is. But you can't do that for the entire course, because no two languages work exactly alike, and a lot of the differences come up from the very beginning.

For example, the lessons for Romance languages invariably use familiar forms for "you", which I don't think is a good idea: the student should be introduced to the difference between familiar and formal forms from the beginning and be taught to err on the side of being too formal. The lessons also tend to use subject pronouns much more than necessary, which can form bad habits: it's a very common mistake to overuse subject pronouns, and students should be taught to use them only when actually necessary.

There are other problems, too. For instance, Spanish 101 Unit 3 lesson 5 has the phrase "508 niñas", and somebody going by only the lesson would probably guess "Cincocientos ocho niñas", but in fact it must be "Quientas ocho niñas": the word for 500 is irregular and the numbers 100-900 must change for gender. But this wasn't taken into account, because the course wasn't designed with the Spanish language in mind.

Restore/repair the ability to use html in all text boxes under review

Please allow the input of html tags into all personal profile input boxes, and restore this ability (You just removed it three days ago! Why?) to the "Brief intro" text box. (And without involuntaryily added breaks in the text.) I like to be able to customize my profile and add links to web pages.

add additional search features to the Find Friends category planned

It would be nice to have additional search features in the find friends category. I invited friends to join, and they did, but I don't know which friends joined. Perhaps we could search by email, date joined, city and country, etc.
