When I started Livemoca I started with Spanish. I could never really get into it, it just never made sense to me. French on the other had clicks a lot easier to me and is going smoothly. But still the old lessons i completed in Spanish are still there. It's pointless and the notifications are useless. I would love to be able to delete them!

    • ACTIVE FRENCH level 5, 6, 7 and 8

I almost finish Active French level 4 and then it's finished. There are no advanced beginner, medium advanced and high advanced levels. So it is very needed to get in active French those advanced levels, from low to the highest advanced level. I truly hope that this in the near future will be added on the OLD Livemocha version site.

I am urgently waiting for ACTIVE PORTUGUESE OF PORTUGAL!
Hopefully on the older version Livemocha site because all my tokens are on the old version site, and not on that beta version.

          • Add formal versions of phrases to the Dutch courses as well as informal.

In a number of languages, the polite version should always be used with someone you don't know. Therefore, I have already seen in the first 10 minutes of registering that this course won't be entirely useful to me as the language is completely informal.

            • Create more specific writing exercises

I find the lower-level writing exercises very frustrating, not necessarily because I can't remember what I learned, but because I find it very difficult to imitate the examples without copying them. More structured writing exercises could be more instructive and less frustrating.

              For example you could:
              - Translate specific phrases from native language into course language
              - Answer specific questions (in course language)
              - Complete dialogs or fill in blanks

Another thought would be to include a hint system, so that you can have a while to think about vocabulary, grammar, etc, before having to be influenced by seeing the…

After learning new vocabulary, I take the Review, but it doesn't tell me which items I missed. It would be very helpful to know so I can improve my future scores and not continue to make the same mistakes.

                      • We URGENTLY ALSO need CHINESE ACTIVE!! ONLY "CHINESE ACTIVE" is the good course to learn CHINESE MANDARIN (Hanyu).

The way lessons are given, in other words the method in the basical course is not good! I had already a little knowledge of Hanyu and I quit the course for that reason! The ONLY good course possible here is, that the team add the: "ACTIVE CHINESE MANDARIN", also called Putonghua or Hanyu. So PLS, add soon this "ACTIVE CHINESE MANDARIN".

                        • give a variety to written submissions

It would be helpful if the written submission's subjects were more varied, the user would then be motivated to use and learn a wider vocabulary.
                          This could be achieved by:

                          A) taking out the multiple times we are asked to write about the same subject, like holiday and routine activities, and substituting those with something new
                          B) (ideally and simpler) adding the possibility of no given subject writtings, where the user could write about a subject of their own choice. -This could work for readings as well.-
                          C) a combination of both of the above.

                          I think that would benefit…

                          • Use kana/kanji for the 'review' section in Japanese courses

Some exercises in the review are only in romaji, like the one where you drag the words to make a sentence. Please at least use furigana, because romaji won't help you learn how to write a sentence. It would also be nice to have exercises where you type out the sentences using kana/kanji.

                            • simplify the Mandarin 101 course for English speakers.

The lessons in Unit 1 are TOO DIFFICULT requiring too much. For example, begin with one word per screen to improve vocabulary. Have the student in the "write" part of the lesson write only one word--not an entire sentence. Dislike.

I'm having the same problem over and over again when trying to teach Portuguese (Portugal) to my friends here in Livemocha: the texts have lots of gramatical errors because they are often writen in portuguese (Brazil). I always struggle to warn them about the differences, which are HUGE!
I suggest you to hire a true portuguese person to correct the texts or users will always have to be correcting 2 texts each time: one from the user (who is learning from an inaccurate text) an the other presented by livemocha.

                                    A great idea
for people with dyslexia to learn through images
then be available for printing photos with names would be great
                                    for children and adults
I think many people would use this system
Using the pictures at home to memorize

                                      Hello,

                                      How are you?

In Unit 5, lesson 1, in grammar for french course, you learn:

                                      I have bought ...

To make the past tense, use the present tense of avoir (to have) and add the past participle.

This tense is used to describe a single event or action that took place in the past and is now completed.

To make the past participle of -er verbs, replace the -er with -é.
Note that both forms sound the same: acheter / acheté.
Over 80% of French verbs are -er verbs.

                                      j'ai acheté - I have bought

I have found the livemocha courses in japanese to be incredibly helpful, however, I began using this material with an intermediate level understanding of the japanese language. Without it I would be lost. The courses currently utilize hiragana, katakana, and kanji without warning. They are used correctly for the native language but an individual who has no experience with the Japanese language has no ability to read them or understand the difference between them.

I would highly recommend that a course be designed for teaching the reading, writing, and comprehension of hiragana characters, then katakana, and finally kanji (even a…
